Welcome to the Miss Hewitt Husky Pageant !

Our pageant is a fund raiser for the Hewitt-Trussville Husky Band program. All profits go into the band's general fund, which benefits both the high school and middle school programs. For general band info, please visit hewitthuskyband.com.

The mission statement for the Miss Hewitt Husky Pageant is two-fold. As mentioned, it is a fundraiser to benefit the band students and the band program at Hewitt-Trussville. Additionally, we hope to provide a fun and uplifting experience for the participating girls and their families. We hope every girl feels special and feels like a princess.

Time Schedule

The pageant runs as follows:
We will begin with the kindergarten group. Each grade will enter as a group and stand together for judging of bonus events. The group will exit and then each girl will take her individual "beauty walk" for judging. Afterwards, that group will stay together backstage while the next older grade does the same procedure for judging. Then the original group will return to the stage to receive their awards. When they exit the stage after the awards, they will be escorted to the photographer for a photo of the entire group (each grade) with their tiaras and trophies. Then they will be finished and free to watch the pageant, leave, etc.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE ESTIMATED TIMES! DO NOT CUT YOUR TIME TOO CLOSELY! GIVE YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY PLENTY OF TIME TO GET TO THE PAGEANT BEFORE YOUR GROUP GOES ONSTAGE!!

What kind of dress should I wear?
A formal pageant gown (full length or tea length) or 'flower girl' type dress is suggested but not required. We have posted photos of dresses worn in the 2006 Miss Hewitt Husky pageant by the queens and 1st and 2nd alternates. How much make-up should I wear?
Our pageant has no rules regarding make-up. The amount should be whatever the girl and her parents deem appropriate.

Directions to ClearBranch

ClearBranch Church is at the Argo exit on I-59 north of Trussville. It takes about 12 minutes to get there from downtown Trussville. You can see it from the interstate. On I-59 North, take the Argo exit. At the end of the ramp turn left and cross back over the interstate. Turn left at the ClearBranch sign, (just past the interstate). Follow the driveway past the first parking lot on the right, past the white metal building on the right, past the main sanctuary building, then park in the next lot on the right. The pageant is in the main sanctuary. There will be signs showing where to enter.
When you leave, you can turn LEFT out of the parking lot and go back out the way you came in, to I-59
OR
you can come out of the parking area and turn RIGHT, then follow the road a short way to Advent Circle. Turn left onto Advent Circle, and it will take you back to Highway 11.

Judging Information

Information About the Judging System

It is our desire to acquire judges who are
1) Qualified: experienced in pageant judging
2) Impartial: preferably from outside the Trussville area, and without relationship to any of the contestants
3) Diverse: that is, having age, gender, and racial diversity, as well as not having the same judges year after year

Criteria
The judges will evaluate each contestant and award points immediately after seeing each contestant. The contestant is actually competing against herself to receive points. The judges look for such things as overall "first impression", physical beauty, confidence and stage presence, gracefulness of walk, carriage and posture, poise and personality.

Onstage Walk:
There will be designated walking pattern and stopping points onstage. Each girl should follow this generally, but will not be penalized for small deviations.

Turns:
The onstage walk should include one 360 degree turn at the front of the stage. It may be a pivot turn or a circle turn. No girl will be disqualified for making additional turns.

Bonus Events:
Awards for Most Photogenic, Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Eyes, and Best Dressed are separate events. These do not add points to the general scoring for Miss Hewitt Husky.

It is our desire in every area to have an honest, impartial, and confidential scoring system. Please respect the decisions of the judges, and realize that, while all the girls may look beautiful, it is the judges' difficult task to select top scorers.

This year's pageant will be held in the beautiful sanctuary of
ClearBranch Church in Trussville (Argo Exit off I-59)
9 grade divisions: K5 through 8th grade
Participants must attend Trussville schools

EACH CONTESTANT WILL RECEIVE A TIARA AND TROPHY
Miss Hewitt Husky and two runners-up will be selected for each grade
Additional awards included in entry fee: prettiest hair,
prettiest smile, best dressed, prettiest eyes

ENTRY FEE $50
Sibling discount: 2nd child $40, 3rd child $25, 4th child free
Children must be in the same family
$10 off total entry fee if postmarked by July 19th

MOST PHOTOGENIC ENTRY; $10 per photo submitted
Photo should be 4x6 or 5x7, not framed, with your name and grade (2008-9) on the back. (Photo may be mailed with registration, but must be received by 11AM pageant day)

DOOR ADMISSION: $6-adults $3-students below kindergarten-free
Each contestant will receive one admission pass

OPTIONAL PAGEANT INSTRUCTION ---$10
Individual instruction in stage presence, walking, pageant turns, confidence and facial expression, eye contact, etc. (Bring your pageant shoes!)
Friday August 15th, 4 PM –8 PM (come and go), at ClearBranch sanctuary

Our goal: to provide a fun and uplifting pageant experience, and to recognize the beauty in each participant

Pageant rules/guidelines
· Not everyone can be selected queen, but EVERY girl can look beautiful and act like a true princess. Please respect the decision of the judges.
· Suggested attire: formal (floor-length) gown for older grades, floor-length or tea-length formal or “flower-girl” dress for younger grades. Heavy makeup is not necessary.
· Sign-in will begin at 10 AM. K – 2nd grade please sign by 11 AM; 3rd – 5th grade by 11:30; 6th – 8th grade by 12:00. Dressing rooms will open at 10 AM.
· The stage will be available for practice on pageant day from 10 to 11 AM.
· Dressing room attendants will be present to line up the girls so that moms or backstage helpers may be seated in the auditorium when contestants go on stage
· Awards for each grade will be given after the next older grade presents for judging
· If you enter ‘Most Photogenic’ please pick up photos at the check-in table after awards are given for your age group.
· Please all contestants go to photographer for group pictures immediately after awards.
